Biography
Tim is a Research Fellow in the Macroeconomics Research Program.
Tim’s research interests are in applied macroeconometrics and macroeconomics. His current research focusses on evaluating the consequences of macroprudential policies, quantifying the impact of forward guidance of monetary policy and modelling the Australian economy. He is the lead chief investigator on an ARC Discovery Project examining the macroeconomic consequences of macroprudential policies. His past research has focussed on estimating output gaps in real time and modelling inflation and small open economies.
Before joining the Melbourne Institute, Tim worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia for fourteen years in a variety of positions, including managing the section responsible for monitoring developments in the business and trade sectors as well as the macroeconomic modelling team.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma in Applicable Mathematics from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics with 1st Class Honours from the University of Adelaide.
