It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research.

The Melbourne Institute was established in 1962 and was the first research institute of its kind in Australia. In its forty-three year history it has made major contributions to economic and social research in Australia and contributed significantly to economic and social policy analysis and development.

We hope to build upon this proud tradition in the years ahead.

While the Melbourne Institute continues to be at the forefront of economic and social research and debate in Austraila, we are also achieving a high level of recognition internationally.
