The MELBOURNE INSTITUTE and present their fourth Economic and Social Outlook Conference
Thursday 2 and Friday 3 November 2006 at The University of MelbourneThe Melbourne Institute and The Australian once again will bring together a unique gathering of political leaders, public service policy-makers, community leaders and academics to discuss the relative merits of policy options for Australia over the next decade. The Lucky Country now finds itself blessed by a China-driven resources boom. Previous such booms have ended in tears. But, if we can manage the boom properly, Australia can set itself up for continued prosperity and opportunity for all. It can also take the opportunity to tackle areas of entrenched disadvantage and invest in longer-term challenges, such as skills, the ageing of the population and the environment. For more information see the Program and Confirmed Speakers or download a printable copy of the conference program here. Gala DinnerThe speaker for the Gala Dinner is Dr Ken Henry, Secretary to the Commonwealth Department of the Treasury. The dress for the dinner is "business suit".
