Lixin Cai joined the Melbourne Institute in August 2003, working in the Labour Economics and Social Policy Group. Before joining the Melbourne Institute, he worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) from 2002 to 2003 and was one of the contributors to the construction of the Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) 2001. Prior to comming to Australia, he had worked at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MoLSS) of China from 1994 to 1999 and contributed to the policy development in social security reforms, social insurance funds management, and financing of the old age pension in China.
His research interests are in labour economics, social policy, dynamics of income support recipients, and social security reforms in transitional economies. CV of Lixin Cai.
