Nicolas joined the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research in March 2007 as a Research Fellow within the Labour Economics and Social Policy Research area. He holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Bordeaux IV ( France). His PhD thesis discusses the building of a microsimulation model and the linking of this model to a computable general equilibrium model in order to assess the effects of trade liberalisation on poverty and income inequality in South Africa. Two research papers arising from his thesis have been published in refereed journals (South African Journal of Economics and The Economic Record) and a third one is forthcoming in Economie et Prévision.

Nicolas is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Melbourne Institute Tax and Transfer Simulator (MITTS). Nicolas’ research interests include microsimulation modelling, micro-macro modelling, labour supply and trade liberalisation.
