Guyonne Kalb joined the Melbourne Institute in January 2001 and is involved primarily in research in the Labour Economics and Social Policy research program. Guyonne has a PhD (econometrics) from Monash University and a Master's degree in econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam (NL). She was most recently employed at Monash University. Previous to her PhD study, she has worked as a researcher in a social insurance administration office in the Netherlands from 1989 to 1994.

Guyonne is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Melbourne Institute Tax and Transfer Simulator (MITTS) and the projects associated with MITTS. Her research interests are mainly in the field of micro-econom(etr)ics and include:

  • Labour supply
  • The interaction of labour supply and social security
  • Microsimulation modelling
  • Employment and unemployment duration
  • Casual/temporary work
