Labour Economics and Social Policy Research Program
The Labour Economics and Social Policy Research Program investigates a broad range of labour market and social policy issues, with a focus on income distribution and social inclusion. Disadvantaged groups in society, such as individuals on a low income or with low skills, are of particular interest with an aim to improve their circumstances through appropriate policies. Health and education are important factors in much of the research.
The Program's research activity is funded from a variety of government and non-government sources. An especially significant source of funding is the Social Policy Research contract with the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
Other important funding sources include the National VET Research and Evaluation Program for the National Centre for Vocational Education Research, the Australian Government Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Australian Government Treasury, the New Zealand Treasury, the Australian Research Council and the University of Melbourne.
