The Melbourne Institute and The Australian newspaper held a major one day conference on Our Schools…. Our Future.
Our schools need to be vital, relevant and effective in forming young minds, developing the skills of our young people and equipping them to play a full and active role in the economic and social life of our country. The success of our schools is vital to our future. This is well accepted and reflected in the national goals of schooling adopted by all governments of Australia in 1999. This conference will bring together the latest evidence about how well our schools are performing, how to improve their performance when necessary and how to ensure that the needs of all students are addressed so that all have the opportunity to successfully complete year 12 or its vocational equivalent.
